You can coat one slashing or piercing weapon or up to three pieces of ammunition with it. The only poison listed in the Player’s Handbook is basic poison. I am sure there will be more about poison when the Dungeon Master’s Guide comes out, but for now here is my attempt to remove some of the confusion about poisons in the current, fifth edition of Dungeons and Dragons. No multiple saves (I was always forgetting to require the second saving throw a few minutes later for secondary damage). D&D 5e has really simplified the use of poisons.
